Experience
Chell is an accomplished and accredited professional
with over 20 years of experience. Immediately prior to the launch of
Chelliah & Associates, Chell was a Director with Kroll Zolfo Cooper’s
restructuring practice. Chell brings with him a depth of business
management and leadership experience, which includes five years as
practice unit leader of corporate revitalizations and restructuring
services at Deloitte and KPMG in Southern California. The bankruptcy and
fraud investigation experience was initially developed during the 6 year
tenure co-heading the litigation and insolvency services group at a
local consulting firm, Duitch Franklin and as senior management at a
regional bankruptcy boutique, Neilson, Elggren Durkin & Co.
Chell has amassed a broad based foundation of
business knowledge. The accumulation of this knowledge commenced in
1981, during 8 years with E&Y in London, England and Los Angeles. During
this 8 year tenure, Chell undertook large and small company audits,
business process improvement reviews, business improvement consulting
and strategic acquisition related and post funding due-diligence
reviews. This experience was instrumental in providing Chell with an
invaluable business education and established the foundation for his
superior communication, personnel and project management skills.
Industries in which Chell has experience includes
manufacturing, retail, telecommunications, engineering, construction,
entertainment, restaurants, energy, healthcare, high technology,
publishing and personal services. Prior to the transfer to Los Angeles
with E&Y, Chell was instrumental in assisting with the dramatic business
improvement of Hitachi Power Tools (UK) within a 6 month secondment as
interim CFO. This pivotal event steered Chell to the successful vocation
of assisting businesses improve their performance and cash flows.
Technical And Special Expertise
Chell’s well developed business, accounting and
financial expertise is further complemented by a calm demeanor and
refined interpersonal and negotiation skills. Chell has successfully
directed out of court restructuring efforts in crisis situations,
Chapter 11 plans of reorganization and state court receiverships, in
addition to Chapter 7 liquidations. He has also provided consulting
services to lenders, trustees, examiners, creditors’ committees, debtors
and receivers. Chell has testified as an expert witness during trial and
by deposition on issues relating to bankruptcy, insolvency, fraud,
forensic accounting, business valuations and economic damages.
